The One Romance event’s planners had an exciting and unique date to plan for a new client earlier this month. Our client wanted to surprise his girlfriend with an intimate and private screening of her favourite film: Diwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, whilst they were in London for a family wedding. He wanted us to find an outdoor space in London and transform it into a cosy Bollywood themed private cinema with drinks, snacks and shisha.
After searching high and low across London, our planners found the ideal location for the date; an exclusive roof terrace in Soho!
It was perfect as it had amazing views of the surrounding rooftops of London yet felt like a peaceful oasis in the middle of the bustling city.
All our planners had to do was transform it into a beautiful setting for the special date (and hope it didn’t rain!).
Our team arrived in the morning (in the sunshine!), ready and excited to decorate the roof terrace and create a Bollywood themed paradise!
Within a few hours, the space had been transformed with drapes, candles, pillows, fairy lights and most importantly, the screen for the film.
We framed photos of the couple and her favourite film quotes in Hindi and placed them around the terrace alongside the orchid and flowers as well as jewellery from Tiffany’s and a book which we had gift wrapped at Harrods.
The couple were spoilt for choice of drinks and snacks as we had included a bottle of vintage Moët Champagne, Grey Goose Vodka, chocolates, cookies and popcorn amongst other things!
As the sun began to set over the rooftops, it was almost time for the couple to arrive and the terrace became even more magical as the fairy lights became more vivid as it got darker.
To keep the date a complete surprise up to the last minute, our planner Amanda came up with the perfect idea of handing out leaflets and hanging up posters on the street where the couple would be walking. We made it look like it was an exclusive screening of the film throughout the week for the public.
It all went to plan and only dawned on her when they arrived at the roof-terrace and the theme tune to the film was playing, that this was all for her!
All the hard work paid off as the date went flawlessly and our clients left incredibly happy and relaxed after their romantic evening together!
This is the message we were sent the next morning “Thank you guys so so so so so so mucchhhhh. I have never seen her that happy in my life”
